Kontaktstation 3.0 @ Fraunhofer Conference 2006

This wednesday, October the 18th, the Kontaktstation 3.0 has been presented on the Fraunhofer Conference of the Year 2006 in the Maritim Congress Center in Bremen. The Kontaktstation has been redesigned completely to enable a performance of five dancers. A stunning choreography has been developed by the famous belgian choreographer Marc Bogaerts along a soundtrack created by the Berlin based composer Sebastian Morawietz in cooperation with the media production company brand atmosphere, that embeds the harmonic facilities of my sensory system with thematic precomposed music.

The five dancers triggered and generated the music by touching each other and building up contact rows. It’s been part of the program because of my submission to the Digital Sparks Award 2006 that is partly founded by the Fraunhofer Institutes and the ZKM – the german center for arts and media technologies.

The well known “heute”-anchorman Steffen Seibert presented the award-gala where different prices were handed over to Fraunhofer Researchers that developed and invented impressing cutting edge technologies, such as perfectly shaped miniature hollow blank diamond spheres that are needed for fusion reactors or new LED-technologies, that we all will soon possess with LED video beamers.

It wasn’t easy to adapt the concept from two to eight persons, dealing with extremely long cabeling, while bringing together a whole crew of professional artists with a tight timeschedule. Therefore I decided to redesign the sensory circuits from scratch. I’ve built a second Sensorizer in a minimal version with more sensor inputs and a cleaned up GUI. The MIOS application has also been improved to increase stability and performance.
I hope this thrilling project has brought some enjoyable and fascinating moments to the audience.
