    Hi Chris,

    sorry for the wrong info, the relative path to the document folder should be “../../../Documents/yourfilename.mp3″ and not “../../Documents/yourfilename.mp3″

    But then again, this is just a “hacky” temporary solution until the resourceManager has been added to the upcoming version.

    Cheers,
    Michael

    Hi Memo2,

    cheers for the msg, that’s a good thought.
    However, I already started working on iCloud! I expect the next proper version to ship with a resource manager and iCloud support :-)

    Cheers,
    Michael

    * from a technical point of view: the complicated thing is not to add the syncing functionality, it’s the link-based HTML document structure that’s currently depending on a specific file structure (the /Documents folder, the /appDirectory/jsLibs plus /Resources), which would change with synced folders (and considering that there are users without iCloud makes it not easier). That means, I have to tweak at the heart of the app, which just takes a bit time. Especially when it’s summer 8). But then again, it’s not only for iCloud, but also enables resources within sketches, which is really really important, I think.

    Hi Rob,
    you’re right, this line is missing in the example. You should look at the “Hallo Welt” example to inspect how to use input keys.
    Backspace unfortunately won’t work due to the way iOS handles this special key.
    The main issue with keys on iOS is the touchscreen input. Input is only possible with PR0C0D1N6, because all key events are routed through a native input and charCodes are simulated.

    Hi CaroKaZed,

    as always cheers for the feedback :-)

    well, as you mentioned, there are two ways to deal with your data and you are free to chose whichever is appropriate. One is concentrated on giving strong (large) visual impressions by showing a gallery with covers while the other one provides a smaller informative list where you can easily navigate your sketches. If you don’t like scrolling the main view, then you should use the “sketches” tableView. On the iPad, you even don’t need to go back to the gallery view, you can switch right in between two sketches!

    You can also experiment with the “Lock Thumb Previews” setting to give each iteration of your sketches a permanent individual cover, so that the graphical views are more relevant to you.

    In the long term, the gallery view on the iPad will be replaced with the coverflow (but with a different flavor) as seen on the iPhone. And I will allow configurations for different display styles. But the general concept of having a visually centered large view and a smaller informative browsing view will most likely not change.

    Cheers,
    Michael

    Hi CaroKaZed,

    I’m working on this feature :-)

    Using iCloud from a developer’s perspective is still a bit complicated (conceptually). For example, for iCloud, the current concept of using the document folder as the main document “shoebox” won’t work anymore, it’ll be used only to import files to iCloud. Which is no problem for most apps, but PR0C0D1N6 uses a delicate relationship of a multitude of files, so this gives me a little bit of a headache :-)

    I think that iCloud will be available together with a resource manager, which I’m working on right now. This means, you will be able to attach local images, fonts, other source codes and media of all kinds to your sketch. With the resource manager, I have to switch to an other file format anyways, so this will be a perfect moment to also introduce iCloud.

    So: no release dates from my side, but rest assured that I wish for that feature, too, so it’ll come!

    Hi CaroKaZed,

    thanks for the feedback –

    There are two answers and an explanation to your question:

    1. in the short term:
    There’s an update in the row (already waiting for review for 7 days now), that will improve the cursor selection issue. It’s more of an issue on the iPhone than on the iPad though…

    2. in the long term:
    I am already working on a native editor, but I cannot say when I will succeed in this, as it’s a really complicated thing to do. Unfortunately, there are no formatted strings on iOS, that is, there is no native textField, where you can set custom fonts or colors for certain text ranges. As we need a Syntax Colored TextField, this is a big draw back. Due to the fact that you can’t just hack into UITextView (because then the app wouldn’t be approved in the App Store anymore), the only way to get a custom TextView is to implement everything from scratch. Including very low-level stuff like text selection and copy/paste etc… Extremely complicated. I have a working proof of concept but it’s very slow so far, so it’s by far not ready to roll.
    The only second way to get a syntax colored editor to work is by using HTML, which I am doing right now. But this path is filled with obstacles as well (as you can see on various other editors on the appStore, some of them have no way of select text, others don’t work with copy/paste etc…). I think I got the editor quite well, but still far from perfect. One of the many annoying little issues is the behavior of the webView to scroll all the way to the top when you enter editing mode (a contenteditable textbox). As I cannot suppress this behavior (again: hacking into classes is an option not available), I have to store the current position and focus again after the keyboard popped up. Now this works sometimes well, other times it’s slightly off. I improved the algorithm in the upcoming version, which will hopefully be approved soon.

    Hope this helps,
    Best,
    Michael

    Hi,

    thanks for your feedback!

    It’s totally up to you, I’m just offering a couple of possibilities to get in touch with me: this forum, a facebook page or by support E-Mail. Uservoice looks nice, I’ll give it a thought  :)

    Hi Jbounds,

    thanks a lot for the kind words.

    Yeah, I know, the editor kind of has some annoyances and I’m currently working on a new (native) editor, but there are a lot of major and minor problems, so I’m not sure if the new editor will be finished soon. I will try and see if I can fix this issue for the next update.

    As an immediate workaround, instead of:

    int pacTurnYs [] = {92, 217, 310, 403, 496, 591, 684, 776, 870, 964};

    you could also write:

    int[] pacTurnYs = new int(10);
    pacTurnYs[0] = 92;
    pacTurnYs[1] = 217;
    pacTurnYs[2] = 310;
    pacTurnYs[3] = 403;
    pacTurnYs[4] = 496;
    pacTurnYs[5] = 591;
    pacTurnYs[6] = 684;
    pacTurnYs[7] = 776;
    pacTurnYs[8] = 870;
    pacTurnYs[9] = 964;

    I know that’s not ideal, but it does at least autoindent correctly.

    Cheers,
    Michael

    Hi Operator,

    thanks for the feedback. Sure, the app will be developed further :-)

    The behavior you are describing for the renaming is not normal. And I can’t seem to reproduce it. (See Edit below). How do you rename (there are various possibilities: in the document view while in edit-mode or in the title bar of the canvas? On the iPad there are two more possibilities…

    Then there are a couple of possibilities I might not have foreseen (and the beta testers might have missed then as well). Things that may cause unexpected behavior: is the keyboard already open when you try to rename? Is the device in landscape or portrait? And have you maybe pressed “OK” but not tapped on the “Rename” button (this may happen from time to time on the iPad)? Did you actually select the text input?

    Edit: I just checked again and I could reproduce what you’re describing if you’re renaming from the titlebar. This is a bug in the current version and will be fixed with the next update.
    Until then, you can tap “Edit” in the TableView and then tap on the name of the sketch to rename. It’ll work there.

    Thanks for reporting this!

    Hi,
    cheers for the mention.
    “Export as HTML-Webapp” will be a feature of PR0C0D1N6. You will be able to export your sketch as zipped HTML-project containing the pde and corresponding HTML & js files, so you can upload the sketch to your server and enjoy other people with your creations :-)

    in reply to: Adding OSC #542

    audiocommander

    Hi Epic Jefferson,

    I am excited as well because of the possibility to have OSC. Technically, it shouldn’t be a big thing to implement and I have all parts of the puzzle here, just waiting to be set together.

    However, I’m currently still struggling/planning conceptually with two issues.

    First, this will break HTML compatibility, because OSC must be implemented natively and won’t work in any other browser. There are HTML5 Websockets, but the implementation is not yet far enough to make it work well with only HTML/JS. While this isn’t a showstopper (at all), I don’t know yet how to integrate and communicate this fact with the upcoming “Export as HTML-WebApp”-Feature. My main goal is to keep everything as simple and straightforward as possible.

    Second, it would surely be useful to keep it compatible to OSCp5. But, to be honest, I think OSCp5 isn’t designed very well and seems to me extremely over-complicated. I wouldn’t be happy to re-implement a library I don’t like (code wise & aesthetically). I could go into details and rant about TCP/IP implementations while most OSC clients use UDP – or the necessity of forcing “end-users” to deal with byte-buffers and buffer-sizes, but you’ll surely get the point…

    So, I have to solve these two questions first. I am sure the first one is solvable easily, and I’m mostly sure at this point that I will develop a PR0C0D1N6-only OSC object that will not be OSCp5 compatible. But instead it will be very easy to use.

    About the timeframe:
    I am currently working on a bigger update which I hope is finished until end of summer. Then I also have (hopefully) decided on a way to integrate OSC. That means, OSC will definitely come, but I better not dare to estimate any timeframe.

    Best,
    Michael

    Hi,

    thanks for your feedback!
    In theory it should already work on the new iPad, because PR0C0D1N6 already supports the Retina Display of the iPhone 4.
    I’ve also already submitted (four days ago) an update which provides full compatibility including HR graphics, but I can’t predict any time. Usually the review takes one week, but I’ve also seen one month.
    However, my Beta Testers reported that rendering on the new iPad with Retina enabled is really slow. So there is an option in the upcoming version to disable retina rendering to get faster speeds.

    Hope this helped,
    best,
    Michael
